About Carter Quinn

Bio

Carter Quinn was born and raised in a very small Western Kansas town where cattle vastly outnumber humans. After stints living in places as different as Omaha, Nebraska, and Ft Lauderdale, Florida, he settled in Lawrence, Kansas, and attended the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!). Although he still bleeds Crimson and Blue, Carter now lives in Colorado where he can be closer to his beloved Colorado Avalanche.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where were you born?

Born & raised in Kansas.

How long have you known you wanted to write?

Since 4th grade. Never thought I had talent enough or anything to say. (Both yet to be proven.)

Where do you find your inspiration?

Anything, really. A word or phrase, a photo, even a look.

What is your favorite food?

Favorite food? Ice Cream. Vanilla. I can doctor that up any way I want. Favorite meal? Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes w/ cream gravy, green beans, & carrot cake for dessert.

What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?

I’m a voracious reader when I’m not writing. Otherwise, I love to be outside on nice days doing anything or nothing.

Mountains or ocean?

Why can’t I have both? But if I have to choose, it’s ocean. There’s nothing that calms me like the sound of the ocean.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what book would you like to have and what one luxury item.

“How to Survive Being Stranded on a Desert Island (And be Rescued)” would be my preference there! Luxury item would be a toothbrush.

What is your writing schedule like?

I have a f/t EDJ, so I try to write 2-3 hours every night after work. Since I’m perpetually single, that works out well. On days off the EDJ, it depends. Sometimes I’ll actually take the day off; other times, I’ll get in 5-6 or more hours of writing.

If you could sit down for dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?

That’s such a hard question to answer. I’m gonna say Bradley Cooper. Maybe he’ll stick around for…dessert after.

What is your favorite sport?

Ice hockey. No question.
